Serbian Ceremony Customs

A woman’s ceremony is one of their most significant life events. This is observed in Serbia in a special manner. Serbian marriage customs, in contrast to western wedding customs, are primarily based on prejudices and antiquated beliefs. The majority of the rituals focus on fending off demons, jinx, and other cruel ghosts. It is a great pleasure to see this lovely ceremony and take in the vivacious atmosphere.

A particular man by the name of buklijas trips each guest in their home a few days prior to the wedding and presents them with bride invitations. A man named Buklijas is adorned with blossoms and drank rakija, a traditional bread wine. He moreover brings happiness and uplifting power to the home.

Following this, the groom’s friends and family gather at his home and present him with presents. He is currently attempting to buy his future woman. He is being offered cash by the best male and his friend for the bride, but he ultimately rejects the sell because it is too high.

The majority of the ceremony is spent adhering to this very funny convention. Gilded jewels are given to the couple to symbolize their fresh marriage and unwavering dedication. Breaking meals is another aspect of the festivity that is free for everyone.

Families used to keep the bride hidden from the wedding until the big day before the formal wedding ceremony. This is due to the family’s concern that she would flee if he did n’t treat her well. To prevent any issues and misunderstandings, the younger partners had to get to know one another a year before the ceremony.

The “mirror on the walls” is another odd marriage custom that is still practiced in some areas of the nation. The newlyweds have to tip over a pitcher of water with their ft as soon as they get to their house. The explanation for this is that it was thought that the cup was occupied by an elderly ancestor who served as the house’s custodian( which is a little insane). The wife is also given honey upon entering the room, and because the woman is supposed to be lush, she must feel it three times with her foot.

In some places, the bride’s mother-in-law would give her bakery under her forearms, a bottle of wine in each hand, and glucose. All of it had to be brought inside and placed on the table by the wife. In various locations, the wedding was given a distaff and wheel, which she had to increase three days in the air in order to become pregnant and raise kids.

A month prior to the wedding, the couple will visit their neighbors in some areas of the nation. They are expected to applaud one another, discuss a beverage, and be happy together. Alongside them, the visitors may sing and dance. They are typically served standard foods during the party, like grilled meat, cheese, and pickled vegetables.
